175th Anniversary Bursary Campaign
The Victoria College Foundation has launched its 175th Anniversary Bursary Campaign with an ambitious goal: to double the number of students receiving bursary support at Victoria College from 45 to 90.
At a time when one in four children in Jersey lives in poverty, we believe family finances should never prevent a capable young person from accessing the education and opportunities that are right for them.
Invest in Potential. Transform Futures.
Watch our campaign film and discover how bursary support can transform opportunities for young people across Jersey.
Our campaign is designed to:
-
Increase social mobility and widen educational opportunity across Jersey.
-
Support lower-income families by ensuring financial circumstances do not restrict educational choice.
-
Give young people greater choice over their education, regardless of their family's financial circumstances.
-
Give young people greater opportunity and hope, whatever their background.
-
Enable inquisitive, ambitious and capable young people to fulfil their potential.
Our aim is to raise £5 million over five years, creating sustainable bursary support that can transform opportunities for young people now and for generations to come.
“A family's income should never determine whether a talented young person can benefit from a Victoria College education. We want young people across Jersey to grow up knowing that, if Victoria College is the right school for them, it is genuinely within their reach.”
Dr Gareth Hughes, Headteacher, Victoria College
The difference a bursary can make
Since the bursary scheme began, hundreds of young people from across Jersey have benefited from the opportunities a Victoria College education can provide.
"There is so much talent in Jersey just waiting for the chance of a better life, but sometimes the key ingredient that's missing is hope. The bursary scheme gave me that hope and changed my life. When you invest in people, you invest in hope."
Evan Laframboise, Old Victorian and former bursary student
Creating choice for families across Jersey
The campaign isn't simply about increasing bursary numbers. It is about choice, opportunity and social mobility.
Families should be able to choose the secondary school they believe is right for their child. That choice should not be determined by their income.
“I am delighted the Victoria College bursary scheme will mean that boys from our school will have the same choice of schools available to them irrespective of their parents' income. It supports meritocracy and will have a meaningful impact on social mobility.”
Russell Price, Headteacher, Rouge Bouillon School
Help us transform futures
By supporting the Victoria College Foundation's 175th Anniversary Bursary Campaign, you can help ensure that potential, ambition and ability, not financial circumstances, determine a young person's opportunities.

Become a Foundation Partner
Becoming a Foundation Partner with Victoria College creates a strong bond between our school and your organisation. The support provided by Foundation Partners is invaluable to both our students and the school as a whole.
Foundation Partners are welcome to decide their level of support to the school, should it be offering bursary support for one or multiple students, or one-off donations.
Our Foundation Partners often contribute their time and expertise to our student's career development by taking part in our Careers Fairs, Careers Speed Networking event, mock job interviews and more. The Foundation Partnership agreement is an annual contract which may allow the Foundation Partner access to our Graduate 'Keep In Touch' contact database of recently graduated students. Partnerships with the Foundation also bring opportunities for project, event and awards sponsorship.
Our students pride themselves on not only being academically successful, but well-rounded young gentlemen who would be an asset to any organisation, as they begin to build their careers after leaving school.
For any further queries, please contact our Foundation Officer, or view the Foundation Partner page.

Leave a Legacy
Bequests to Victoria College have always been fundamental to the future of the College. Importantly, a gift does not need to be large to make an impact. Every contribution makes a difference.
The combination of more minor bequests over time has had a wide-ranging positive impact across many programs that continue to benefit Victoria College students and provide the life-changing gift of a Victoria College education.
The names of those who have left a bequest to Victoria College live on through the lasting benefit their gift means to our boys.
Please get in touch with us at Foundation@vcj.sch.je if you would like more information on leaving a gift in your will.
The Patrons of the Foundation are:
