Drama at Victoria College provides boys with a wide range of opportunities to pursue their interest in Acting, and Technical Skills while learning about historical and theoretical aspects of Theatrical Arts.  Students are encouraged to explore their performance potential in a safe and creative environment.  In each year group, boys have the opportunity to devise their own work, stage extracts of published play texts and be introduced to specific genres and practitioners.

In addition to curricular work, many students are able to take part in school plays including musical theatre productions, which have recently included "Return to the Forbidden Planet", "Animal Farm", "The Tempest", "Julius Caesar" and "Les Miserables".  The House system also provides opportunities for students interested in Drama to direct, produce and perform a play for the Annual House Drama Competition.  We also run a Technical Theatre Club during a lunch hour which aims to develop boys' skills in lighting design, sound engineering, set construction, properties, stage management etc.

The Drama Department is committed to providing opportunities for students to develop confidence and performance skills whilst enriching their communication skills.  In addition to the Drama curriculum, we also offer the LAMDA Grade 8 Gold award in  "Speaking in Public" to any Year 13 student wishing to take this as an Enrichment option.
