Personal, social and health education (PSHE), including
citiizenship education, contributes to the school curriculum by
helping to give pupils the knowledge, skills and understanding they
need to become informed, active, responsible citizens.
In the new Jersey Curriculum, 2014, available 2017, it adds
that PSHE, including Citizenship, is a programme through
which they acquire the knowledge, understanding and skills they
need to manage their lives now and in the future.
PSHE isnot just a knowledge base to learn buta principle
running through the school.
Through cross curricular experiences and activities,
self-esteem, confidence, identity and the potential of every
learner is developed and enhanced.
At VCP we use the SEAL (social and emotional aspects of
learning) programme as a go - to framework across the school.
At Victoria College Preparatory School we recognise that the
personal and social development of children underpins the whole of
their education process. The aim of PSHE is to help children
understand and value themselves as individuals and as responsible
and caring members of society. We want children to like
themselves and to feel confident.
