All Years, Response to Recent Media Attention

Following the recent media attention, thank you very much to the dozens of parents who have shared their testimonies with us of positive experiences at the College. It has been hugely heartening for staff to read.

We have included the redacted testimonies from a number of those parents here, who are happy for them to be shared. Once again, thank you to our parents for your engagement, support, trust and commitment to partnership.

VCPA Bingo Night

All Years, Band-tastic - Wednesday 25 March

Band-tastic!

Now in its fifth year here in Jersey, Victoria College’s annual concert evening once again brings exceptional brass talent together for a truly memorable performance.

This year, the concert moves to the St Helier Methodist Centre, offering a larger, more atmospheric space for our musicians - and creating a golden opportunity to unite both of Jersey’s Brass Bands on the same stage for the very first time.

The timing could not be more significant. In the 175th anniversary year of the Band of the Island of Jersey, this joint performance marks an important milestone for the island’s musical heritage. With the Premier Brass fresh from competing in the National Brass Band Championships the week before, audiences can expect a night of outstanding music-making.

More than 100 brass players will fill the venue with a powerful and uplifting programme. Performances include the Victoria College Youth Brass and the full Concert Band, who will close the evening with iconic pieces such as The Dambusters and The Great Escape - guaranteeing an enjoyable, high-energy celebration of brass music.

The concert begins at 7.30pm on Wednesday 25 March 2026.
Entry is free for all, with a retiring collection in support of the musicians.

Reserve your ticket here.

All Years, National Careers Week Activities and Resources for Parents

This week has been a fantastic celebration of National Careers Week, with a programme of assemblies, activities and employer encounters designed to inspire students from Year 7 to Year 13 as they explore future pathways and the skills needed for life beyond school.

Students across all year groups have been taking part in careers-focused assemblies, encouraging them to reflect on their strengths, aspirations and the wide range of opportunities ahead. As part of our Speaker Programme, external organisations have also visited the College to speak with different year groups, providing valuable insight into the world of work.

Year 8 have been involved in a fast-paced speed networking event, meeting professionals from a variety of sectors, while Year 9 have begun their six-week careers programme, exploring their skills, interests and future options as they look ahead to their GCSE choices.

It has been an inspiring and energising week of future-focused learning, reinforcing our commitment to delivering a high-quality careers programme aligned with the Gatsby Benchmarks.

For full details about our careers provision from Year 7–13, please read the article on our website here.

Please also scroll down to refer to our weekly careers newsletter, linked at the bottom of the College newsletter each week. This week's bumper edition includes a valuable Parents' Guide to Careers.

Years 7-9, An Introduction to PSHE at Victoria College and How to Support at Home (Weekly Updates)

We are extremely proud of our PSHE programme at Victoria College! PSHE (Personal, Social, Health, and Economic) education is the backbone of excellent safeguarding, empowering young people to make good choices to improve their mental and physical health, build social skills, foster positive relationships, and prepare for future careers and financial independence. It equips young people with the knowledge and skills to navigate life safely, make informed decisions, and become responsible members of society.

In Years 7, 8, 9 and 11, students enjoy a distinct one hour PSHE lesson taught by experienced members of staff including those in the Leadership Group. In Year 10, we currently operate drop-down events to ensure our pupils have access to the information and strategies they need to stay safe in their ever-changing world.

We strive to support you, our parent body, in expanding the discussions taking place in the classroom at home. To that end, we invite you, as a family, to enjoy a weekly dinner discussion around the supper table. If these discussions prompt further topics, please do get in touch with our Head of PSHE, Mrs Silver (g.silver@vcj.sch.je) so we can share!

This term, students will be focusing on:

Year 7: 1) Mental Health led by Sixth Form Peer Educators and 2) Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner sessions - how to protect personal information online

Year 8: Physical Health

Year 9: Careers

This week, the following topics have been the centre of discussion in PSHE lessons:

Year 7 - How can we look after our friends and their mental health?

Year 8 - What influences our choices about being healthy? How can we manage those influences?

Year 9 - How can your personal skills be used in a working environment (e.g. I have good communication skills and like talking to people.)

Year 9, Vaccination Programme

Parents of Year 9 students should have received a consent form and information letter for the teenage booster vaccination programme being held on Wednesday 11 March. We would be grateful if you could fill in the form and return it to the school office as soon as possible for the immunisation team to collect.

Year 9, GCSE Options Form

You and your son can now select GCSE options here. The deadline to complete GCSE options is Thursday 12 March (after Year 9 Parents' Evenings).

Years 9-13, CCF Warning Orders

Please find this week's Warning Orders here.

Year 9, Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award Update

Many students have completed their one or two 3 month sections. Well done, but it doesn't count unless it is entered on the eDofE platform!

Don't forget to evidence your progress and to get your assessors to write their report! Any questions, please ask Mr Watteau!

For more information please click here.

Year 10, PSHE Dinner Table Discussions

Thank you to parents of students in Year 10 who have asked for dinner table discussion topics! Year 10 will begin their PSHE sessions this academic year so, with this in mind, their discussion prompts are linked to the topics they will cover in due course: relationships and sex education, citizenship, drugs and alcohol education and mental health strategies. We hope these prove interesting and afford meaningful opportunities for you to build on our discussions in lesson time!

How can you support our School zero tolerance of bullying?

Year 11, GCSE Examinations Timetable

Please find attached the GCSE Summer 2026 examination timetable. This is an overarching timetable for all GCSE candidates and is intended to provide an early overview of the upcoming exam period.

When reviewing the timetable, you may notice what appears to be an examination clash. Please do not be concerned. All student entries will be reviewed carefully by the Examinations Office in line with JCQ regulations.

Every student will receive a bespoke timetable in due course, which will be sent directly to their school email address. Where a genuine clash exists, this will be resolved and reflected in the individual timetable once finalised. We appreciate your patience while this process is completed.

It is also worth noting that in some subjects -  particularly Religious Studies and certain Language qualifications - the timetable may appear to show a clash. In many cases, this is because the qualification consists of two papers sat back-to-back within the same session, rather than a true clash.

At this stage, no action is required from parents or students.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support as we prepare for the summer examination series.

Year 11 Examination Timetable

Year 11, Optional Study Leave

Years 11-13, China Trip - July 2026

Thank you for submitting renewed passports. Travelbound have shared our flight times. These can be found on the China Teams channel, which students are members of. We are also following closely the recent news that China has agreed to allow British nationals 30 days VISA free into China. Currently, no date has been confirmed as to when this will take effect. We will keep you posted of any changes and continue with our application process.

Year 13, A Level Timetable for Summer Examinations

Please note, the overarching examination timetable for the summer series 2026 is available on our website and a copy attached here for your convenience.

All suspected clashes will be carefully reviewed and resolved in accordance with JCQ guidance and regulations. This is a significant undertaking across both GCSE and A Level cohorts, so your patience while this process is completed is sincerely appreciated.

Once all clashes have been reviewed and resolved, your son will receive a bespoke timetable confirming his individual arrangements.

If your son is taught at one of the consortium schools, he will sit his exam at VCJ (with exception to Music Tech & Criminology)

Thank you for your support.
