Visit to HMS Iron Duke
YR 7 Di went to visit HMS Iron Duke, on
Thursday the 18th November, to experience what life was
like on board a Naval Destroyer. The students were all very
excited and enjoyed being shown around the outside deck and having
the weapons explained to them; the boys also were taken to the Ops
room where they were told about the workings of satellite and radar
tracking. After climbing up and down different ladders and
moving about the inner decks they ended up on the Bridge.
Lieutenant Mike Johnson spoke to them about navigation and the
history of the ship. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the visit
and have completed some excellent English essays based on the
visit.
