PE
Our primary focus is to follow a philosophy of 'sport for all'
where all pupils can gain a positive experience of sport that will
help them to understand the importance of a physically active
lifestyle. Where possible we strive for the strong pursuit of
excellence with competitive fixtures against other schools, which
give our more able pupils the opportunity to test themselves
against similar standard peers. Our curriculum is varied and
stimulating to all pupils, whether you are interested in simply
living a healthy lifestyle or want to go to university and make a
career in the world of sport our curriculum.
To achieve our aims we provide opportunities in many areas to cater
for your needs. All pupils have 1 compulsory PE lesson per
week (Y7 - 12) with a range of opinions available. All pupils
(Y7-11) have Games lessons where we coach and play inter-house
matches in the College's main sports (football, rugby, hockey and
cricket). Extra-curricular practices/matches run at
lunchtimes, after school and on Saturday mornings in a range of
activities. These provide opportunities for pupils to
represent the College or participate in a new sport at a
recreational level.
GCSE PE is a popular option in Y10 and Y11 and AS/A2 Level PE
involves a deeper look into the world of sport in Y12 and Y13 for
those who have a passion for sport and the sports performer.
