Music
The Music Department is housed in its own separate Music Suite, but includes a Music Technology Room in the Main College building. The Music School has one main teaching room, equipped with new Yamaha keyboards and classroom percussion, as well as 5 rehearsal rooms downstairs.
The Music Technology Room currently houses 12 PCs running the Sibelius Music software. From September 2005, all year 7 Music classes will be timetabled for one lesson in this room using ICT. Both the main teaching rooms now have interactive white board and projector facilities linked to excellent sound reproduction sytems.
The Music Department offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities for students from all years of College. These ensembles rehearse on a regular weekly basis and include at present a 4 part College Choir, a close harmony group, a Big Band, a String Ensemble, a Recorder Consort as well as a Brass Ensemble and Junior Woodwind ensemble. Details of rehearsals taking place each week can be found on the 'Departmental notes' page of this Music Department web site.
