RECORDS BROKEN AT VICTORIA COLLEGE SPORTS DAY 2017

Congratulations to all competitors who took part in Sports Day at FB Fields on Thursday. There was an excellent level of competition which produced some very impressive performances resulting in some athletes breaking school records:

Isaac Dodds (Y8 Diarmid) - Broke the school record for Year 8, 1500m

Charlie Reid (Y8 Bruce) - Broke the school record for Year 8, 200m

Isaac Du Val (Y10 Bruce) - Broke the school record for Colts, 300m

Rob Thomas (Y10 Bruce) - Smashed the school record with an amazing time of 10.80 secs in Colts, 100m

Andrew Gatehouse (Y8 Braithwaite) - Broke the school record for Year 8, 100m

Finlay Lowes (Y8 Bruce) - Broke the school record for Year 8, 200m

Special mentions go to:

Ben Hamilton (Y10 Diarmid):  only 7cm away from Colts Javelin record and 10cm short of the Colts Discus record.

Rusden Merritt (Y8 Dunlop): lost his shoe on the opening bend of the Year 8 800m but despite this, demonstrated excellent resilience and persevered through to the end of the race, coming 4th!

Isaac Dodds is the first person ever to win the Junior 1500m Trophy in both Year 7 & 8, breaking the Year 8 School Record this year in the process.

Many thanks to the PE Department for their organisation of Sports Day, and in particular Mr Habin who performed brilliantly on the microphone to provide spectators, parents and athletes with a great insight into everything from records broken to running styles.

Congratulations also go to winners of Sports Day and this year's Blomfield Trophy - Diarmid House
