Royal Air Force
The Royal Air Force Section was formed in 1951, its current
establishment is 60 Cadets and 3 Officers. The Section thrives on
competition focusing on the Regional and National RAF (CCF) Air
Squadron Trophy Competition. Drill, First Aid, Leadership Tasks,
Physical Fitness, Shooting, Aircraft Recognition and RAF Knowledge
are at the heart of both the competition and therefore the
Section's training programme.
Cadets selected to join the RAF Section are expected to pass the
RAF Proficiency Award prior to attending RAF Summer Camp at the end
of Year 10. Cadets will go on to complete the RAF Proficiency Part
2 and Advanced Proficency in Years 11 and 12. Besides proficiency
and competition training, Cadets take part in a wide range of
adventurous activities including archery, rock climbing, kayaking
and abseiling.
RAF Section Cadets are part of the Air Cadet Organisation and as
such are entitled to apply for a wide range of flying & gliding
opportunities including Gliding Induction Weekends, Flying &
Navigation Scholarships and take part in the International Air
Cadet Exchange. Local air experience flying through the Jersey Aero
Club is also available to Cadets thanks to the generosity of the
Royal Air Forces Associations (Jersey Branch).
